Faith Deliverance Church of God in Christ Leadership

Faith Deliverance Church of God in Christ is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.

Dr. Terence O, Hayes, Sr

Senior Pastor

Pastor Terence O. Hayes, Sr. was born on October 20th, 1961 in the city of Dayton, OH. An honor graduate from the class of 1979, he attended John H. Patterson High School where he studied Distributive Education in wholesaling and retailing. He is also an inductee in the National Honor Society.

Terence served over 21 years in the United States Air Force and retired in July 2002. He served 20 years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as an Administrative Specialist and completed a one year tour in the Republic of Korea at Osan Air Base as an Executive officer. Upon his retirement, he was awarded several distinctive medals, including The Meritorious Service Medal and The Air Force Commendation Medal with 5 oak leaf clusters. He was also awarded the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal for his off-duty involvement in the local community; specifically for his work with the gospel group, New Harvest. As the visionary and creator of the group, Terence devoted over 1000 hours over 18 years of mentoring and being a role model to the young men he worked with.

His astute administrative skills, contagious personality, and willingness to serve God and his congregation are a testament to his heartfelt leadership skills. Pastor Hayes’s favorite passage of scripture is, “where there is no vision, the people would perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he” (Proverbs 29:18). In 2009, Pastor Hayes launched the building fund campaign during the recession to build a new edifice, however, God sustained and blessed and redirected the steps of this leader of faith along with the members of this congregation to pursue the new house of worship of Faith Deliverance Church of God in Christ at 450 Turner Road, December of 2013. The church broke an unprecedented record in the Spring of 2020 and paid a $510K mortgage off and became debt-free.  As the Servant of the Lord, it is Pastor Hayes’ utmost desire to lead the charge that has been assigned to his hand in the spirit of humility and excellence for his God-given Kingdom assignment.

Terence’s greatest passion is his love and commitment to gospel music. As a songwriter and arranger, he has numerous songs built into his writing repertoire. Besides, several of his works are associated with the Broadcast Music Incorporation (BMI) music group association. In 2013 the group, New Harvest under his leadership was honored to be named “Dayton’s Originals” in the historical archives of the city of Dayton.  New Harvest made its debut in 2005 at the famed Showtime at the Apollo in New York City. A history-making experience in itself, the group further excelled in 2008 as 3-time Dove Award Nominees for the self-titled project, “New Harvest.” Their self-titled maxi-single, “The Strength of a Man,” written and arranged by Terence O. Hayes, Jr., was the first musical work from FaithWorks Records,  & “The Best of New Harvest” in digital outlets. In 2013, movie producer Robert Townsend featured their hit single, “I Can’t Stop,” in his Entertainment One movie, “The Hive.”

Terence is a bi-vocational pastor; currently a Supply Technician for Foreign Military Sales at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH.    He is a graduate of Liberty University with an educational Doctoral Degree in Community Care and Counseling, with a cognate in Pastoral Counseling,  Associate Degree in Psychology, Christian Counseling, Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology, with a concentration in Christian Counseling, Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling.   In 2014 he was selected as one of the Church of God in Christ’s 100 Influential Pastors. He’s also a member of the American Association of  Christian Counselors and was recently selected to join The Society for Collegiate Leadership & Achievement with a 3.86 GPA.

Terence is married to Rhonda L. McDuffie-Hayes. They were joined in holy matrimony on January 26th, 1980. They are the proud parents of five daughters and two sons, three-sons-in-law, two-daughter-in-laws, and a host of grandchildren.

Superintendent Norman McDuffie

Founder of Ministry

Norman McDuffie, Jr. was born on October 3rd, 1931.  A native of Fitzgerald Georgia.   He attended Fletcher Elementary School and as he progressed in his teen years; devoted his time to serve the needs of his immediate family as one of nine siblings.

In February of 1954, Norman was introduced to the life of holiness at the Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ in Dayton OH.   It was through the preaching and teaching of the late James J. McMahon that the Lord saved, sanctified, and filled him with the gift of the Holy Ghost that changed his life forever.

Elder McDuffie served in many capacities of the church.   The word declares to whom much is given; much is required.  He served as chaplain deacon, conducting praise and worship exemplifying how a true saint worships the Lord in Spirit and in Truth.  He was an astute Sunday School teacher, Young People Willing Worker teacher, which was the making of him to become a great man of God by transforming his life by the word he taught.  In addition to his bible knowledge, he served as the church secretary to add to his myriad list of offices held in the church.

In 1970, he accepted his calling to the ministry and became an ordained minister. This was the beginning of the path he was directed on by the Lord.   As time progressed he was appointed serve as the assistant pastor of Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ for four years.   The Lord called him to a much greater responsibility to be appointed what was termed ‘Junior Pastor’ at his home church.  His life had a great impact on many of the young people in the church and the words from his late pastor—“he brought life in the church!”   His tenure at Prayer Garden was with 26 years of faithful service.   The next chapter of his life placed a new beginning in his ministry.

In 1982, Elder McDuffie began the work of Faith Deliverance Church of God in Christ.   The seeds he planted for over 26 years reaped a greater harvest for him and his family.  One of COGIC’s finest evangelists; the late Elsie Shaw spoke a prophetic word in his life “you might plant seeds in one place and reap them in another.”  Superintendent McDuffie began this work with less than 40 members and as the Lord added to the church as such should be saved it currently has a membership of over 250 members.  Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.  This word from the book of wisdom in Proverbs was the catalyst that kept this work in existence.  God led him, directed him, and kept the church on a true foundation of true holiness.

On June 28, 1992, Elder McDuffie was appointed to the position of Superintendent in the Ohio Northwest Jurisdiction by the late Bishop Robert L. Chapman.   This was a great achievement and complement to this servant’s life for dedicating and giving his all to God.  He was assigned over the newly appointed Metropolitan District—that captured all the places one needed to be a part of with this winning name in the area of Ohio.

Many wonderful accomplishments were made during his pastorate.  One to make mention of was the burning of the mortgage of Faith Deliverance Church of God in Christ.  He was encouraged not only by God but his special Mother in Zion; Mother Ella Mae Coleman to take on the challenge of meeting this need.  The Lord blessed the saints to contribute to this great effort and we paid the church off in a record-breaking time!

In May of 2004, Superintendent McDuffie placed the reigns of leadership to his co-pastor; Elder Terence O. Hayes, Sr.  This was a Moses and Joshua experience that manifested right before the body of Christ.  Superintendent McDuffie is currently serving and ministering and teaching the word of God at the Founding Church he established.
